"One Tree, My Duty" is a unique and inclusive green initiative by Ek Kadam Sansthan that combines environmental responsibility with social upliftment. As the name suggests, this campaign is rooted in the simple yet powerful idea: everyone should plant at least one tree and take responsibility—or help enable someone else to do so.
In this model, trees are planted in clusters of 20, and the responsibility for their care is entrusted to a beneficiary—someone from a vulnerable background, such as a physically challenged person, senior citizen, or someone from an economically disadvantaged group. The caretaker not only nurtures these saplings for up to 20 months, but also receives a monthly honorarium of ₹2,000, creating both green cover and livelihood support.
Currently under pilot testing, the initiative has already seen the successful plantation of over 800 trees. With strong early outcomes, Ek Kadam Sansthan is preparing to scale and launch the model globally, transforming the way we think about tree plantation—not just as an environmental act, but as a social revolution.
One Tree, My Duty is not just about planting trees—it’s about planting hope, enabling dignity, and growing a greener, more equitable world.
